Looking back on August at Wesley Place

A month of meaningful events at Wesley Place.

28.08.2023

August has been a month of connection, culture, and compassion.

From fundraising for important causes to celebrating Melbourne International Film Festival, join us as we recap our favourite moments from August at Wesley Place.

CafeSmart 2023 by StreetSmart Australia

Drinking coffee helped raise funds for grassroots homelessness organisations. Amidst the chill of winter, Wesley Place cafes partnered with StreetSmart Australia to make a difference in the lives of Australians facing homelessness. From 3 - 4 August, for every freshly brewed coffee sold at Foundry Lane, The Manse, and Axil Coffee Roasters Wesley Place, we pledged a $1 donation. Melbourne International Film Festival
In celebration of the 71st Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), Wesley Place stood as a gateway to helping city-goers enjoy the opening night with our very own Mini Electric car parked at the front of the precinct. With over 275 films gracing screens across Melbourne from 3-20 August, Wesley Place was just a leisurely stroll away from enjoying the best flicks of the festival at the Comedy Theatre with pre-show cocktails at award-winning bar, Caretaker’s Cottage.

Live music in the lobby

Wesley Place invited its tenant-customers to experience live music on 15 August by vocalist, Rory McKenna. The precinct came to life with the soothing sounds of vocalists and musicians, creating an inviting ambiance for all to enjoy across the lobbies at 130 Lonsdale Street and 150 Lonsdale Street.

Wear It Purple Day 2023

Diversity, empowerment, and inclusivity are important parts of Wesley Place. On 23 August, we invited our community to enjoy a Wear It Purple Day cookie as a symbol of unity and support for all LGBTIQA+ community members. Our commitment to fostering safe and empowering environments that celebrate the vibrant spectrum of human identity is something we love to celebrate at Wesley Place.

Cancer Council Australia’s Daffodil Day

August concluded with the opportunity to make a profound impact on Australian lives affected by cancer. On 28 August, our 130 Lonsdale Street and 150 Lonsdale Street lobby foyers bloomed with fresh Daffodils sold alongside decadent pastries with 100% of proceeds contributing to Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day Appeal. We’re proud to support advancements in life-saving cancer research. To learn more and donate, click here.
